Sidmouth Regatta & Air Display 2019

Sidmouth Regatta 2019

Guests at the Royal York & Faulkner Hotel won’t have to travel far to join in the fun at the Sidmouth Regatta 2019. In fact, those with a sea-view or balcony can watch the races from the comfort of their own bedroom.

This year the regatta events will take place on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th August. Most will start from Port Royal, a minute’s walk from the hotel. Traditional sea based activities will take place on Saturday. From 10am to 10pm, events will include the very popular raft race with many interesting ‘homemade’ raft designs. Sunday will have events for children and families from 10am to 2pm. Saturday evening finishes with live music and a spectacular firework display on the Esplanade.

This event is not only lots of fun for locals and visitors, it is also a great opportunity for the Sidmouth Lifeboat to profit from collections.

Sidmouth Air Display 2019

As if the Regatta is not enough to entice visitors to Sidmouth on the bank holiday weekend, the evening before, Friday 23rd August, will definitely be one of the highlights of the year. The 2019 Sidmouth Air Display takes place from 6pm. Set to last for more than an hour, the aircraft will appear in the skies above the Esplanade. Once again, guests at the hotel will have prime position.

Some of the participants include: the RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team, the Battle of Britiain Memorial Flight Spitfire, Strikemaster Jets Pair, the Twirlybatics Team with their Pitts Special bi-plane and an RAF Chinook.  It looks to be an amazing event with more teams yet to be announced. Check www.visitsidmouth.gov.uk for future details).

The air display, like the Red Arrows display, which has taken place for many years in Sidmouth, relies on generous sponsorships and donations from the public. Let’s hope the beautiful weather continues until the last days of Summer.
