Sidmouth and East Devon Walking Festival 2018

The Sidmouth and East Devon Walking Festival is perfect for a walking and exploring holiday and has become a regular occurrence in the Sidmouth calendar. We’re looking forward to its return next month.

From Saturday 22nd – Friday 28th September this annual event will offer daily free guided walks along the beautiful scenic coastal paths of Sidmouth and through the hidden gems of East Devon.

The walking festival kicks off with a launch event on Saturday 22nd September from 1pm to 4pm at Kennaway House where you can meet the guides and find out about the walks on offer.

Daily throughout the festival, there will be three or four walks to choose from including shorter special interest expert-led walks, circular walks which take in the seaside towns and beautiful countryside, and the East Devon Way linear walks. Experienced local walkers will lead all the trails.

If you’re feeling ambitious, you can tackle the 40-mile East Devon Way, walking from Exmouth across the cliffs and South West Coastal Path to Lyme Regis. Completing the route will take five days in five stages. There is coach transport (at the cost of £6) which will take you to the start and collect you at the end.

You can download the full programme here.

All walks are free of charge but limited, but you must book in advance through the Sidmouth Tourist Information Office on 01395 516441. Coach transfers are £6 payable in advance. For payment details, please email sidmouthwalkingfestival@gmail.com.

After all that walking you’ll be in need of a hearty evening meal and a comfy bed! We can fulfil that requirement on both counts and have rooms available during the Sidmouth and East Devon Walking Festival week.
