We might be heading into winter, but there’s still plenty to see and do in Sidmouth when the weather doesn’t lend itself to strolls along the promenade.
Here are our top 5 winter things to do in Sidmouth:
1. Manor Pavilion Theatre
The beautiful Manor Pavilion Theatre situated in the heart of Sidmouth is open all year round offering a range of entertainment including plays, musicals, comedies, concerts, variety shows, dance shows, professional ballet and pantomime. If you’d like to take in a show during your stay with us, we’ll be happy to arrange pre-theatre dining.
2. Norman Lockyer Observatory
Sidmouth has its very own observatory which is regularly open to the public for star-gazing, planetarium shows and astronomy talks and tours. Dark winter nights are the perfect time for exploring the stars above.
3. The South West Coast Path
Passing through Sidmouth, The South West Coast Path is Britain’s longest national walking trail. The route from Sidmouth takes in the magnificent Jurassic coastline and is well worth walking when the weather isn’t too inclement.
4. Donkey Sanctuary
Home to over 500 donkeys, the Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary is open to the public 365 days a year. Pet the donkeys, take a stroll along one of the many walks leading out from the centre, or sit back in The Kitchen restaurant and enjoy award-winning food.
5. Christmas shopping
Sidmouth has a buzzing town centre with many independent shops offering fantastic Christmas gifts and treats. The town has a lovely festive feel from 18 November when it’s the official Christmas light switch on.
When you don’t want to step outside the front door and brave the winter weather, you can sit back and relax in one of our three beautifully furnished warm and comfy lounges. Or unwind in our sea-facing Faulkner Bar and watch the world go by with a drink in your hand.
