We’re blessed to have a fantastic reception team at the Royal York & Faulkner Hotel. They’re always ready to greet you with a friendly smile and help make sure you have a great stay in Sidmouth.
Several of our reception team members have been with us for many years. If you’ve stayed with us regularly we’re sure that they’ve become familiar faces to you.
As our lovely receptionists are nearly always the first people you see when you arrive at the hotel we thought you might like to know a bit more about them and their history with us.
Hotel reception team
Our longest standing team member, Kathi Hutchings, looks after group reservations. She joined us in 1975 aged just 17. After a break from the hotel to concentrate on raising her family we were delighted to welcome Kathi back to the team fifteen years ago.
Another young starter, Katie Mathews, joined us in 1988 aged just 18. Like Kathi, she took a break to raise her two boys and returned to us on a part-time basis in 2007. Katie now looks after accounts and payroll.
Aimee Somers has been with our reception team for 12 years. She might be a less familiar face to you of late as we now keep her mainly hidden in the back office providing admin support across the hotel.
Marina Selway started with us in 2010. A keen skier Marina used to work the summer with us and then head off to France to work the ski season. She’s hung up her skis for now and has been with us on a permanent part-time basis for the last three years.
South African Belinda Campbell has travelled the furthest to join our team. Belinda came to work for us two years ago when she and her husband emigrated to Devon from South Africa.
Our newest member of the team is Andrea Jarabicova. Slovakian-born Andrea joined us last year and is so far enjoying life in Sidmouth. Unfortunately, Andrea missed the photo shoot as it was her day off.
