If you’re visiting Sidmouth this summer we highly recommend you experience one of Sidmouth Town Band’s summer concerts.
Throughout the summer until the 4th of September the Sidmouth Town Band will be performing weekly in Sidmouth’s Connaught Gardens. At 8pm every Sunday (weather permitting) you can enjoy hearing the brass band play a mix of popular and classical music in this lovely outdoor venue.
Admittance is free and open to all.
The band’s biggest concert of the year, their annual Last Night of the Proms concert will take place on 20th August. This year’s event will be particularly special as radio and TV presenter, Jeremy Vine, has accepted an invitation to compere the event.
In addition to the Sunday night concerts, the band are also busy throughout the summer performing in a number of locations in and around Sidmouth. Take a look at their engagements page to find details of when and where you can hear them perform during the summer.
Details about the Proms concert, including when and where tickets will be available, will also be available on the band website.
Apart from breaks during the first and second world wars there has been a band in Sidmouth for over 150 years. Originally featuring mixed brass and woodwind instruments the band became all brass in 1911. The band has progressed over the years and was promoted to the Second Section in 2012.
The band is a great asset to the town and we’re sure you will enjoy hearing them play.
