Sidmouth celebrations for the Queen’s Birthday

Sidmouth is gearing up for a festive weekend as the town prepares to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday.

Sidmouth town centre is already looking resplendent in red, white and blue. Many of the shops along the high street are flying the Union Jack and have special window displays to mark the occasion. Our red, white and blue themed hanging baskets along the hotel front are looking fabulous!

We’re very excited about the main event, a street party in Sidmouth town centre on Sunday afternoon. Approximately 1,000 people are due to sit down together in and around Market Place to celebrate with friends and family. All dressed in red, white and blue.

With Sidmouth Town Band (accompanied by Val Howels) playing in Market Place, a compere, a DJ, and music being broadcast throughout the streets, Sidmouth is going to be buzzing this weekend.

Our town has a long tradition of street parties. Most recently, we joined together to mark the wedding of Prince William and Kate in 2011 and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012.

Sidmouth’s royal birthday celebrations follow hot on the heels of Sidmouth Literary Festival so it promises to be a busy weekend in Sidmouth. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for good weather!
