The fun doesn’t stop in Sidmouth when summer ends. As well as lovely walks and stunning sea views, there are still lots of things to see and do when the summer visitors have left. Here’s a few for visitors to the Royal York & Faulkner Hotel in Autumn 2021:

Donkey Sanctuary
There is always plenty to do on a visit to the Donkey Sanctuary, but, at the moment, it is even more interesting as they have introduced the ‘Adorably Curious Adventure Trail’. An A-Z of donkey facts for you to discover around the sanctuary (not just for kids!)

Devon Open Studios
Just before the turning for the Donkey Sanctuary, as you drive up the hill from Sidmouth, is a turning on the right to the Thorn Park Golf Centre, Salcombe Regis. Until 26 September, artist, Victoria Goodman will be opening her studio to the public. Her unique and beautiful oil paintings, inspired by the local Devon landscape, will be on display. Well worth a visit.

The Manor Pavilion
Despite a very difficult year for the entertainment industry, the Manor Pavilion re-opened in the Summer with a full programme of plays and musicals. Three not to be missed are:
Clue the Musical, a Paul Taylor-Mills presents feature, starting 20 September
Dracula, a mystery thriller presented by the Sidmouth Amateur Dramatic Society, starting 6 October
Sister Act, an adaption of the famous musical from the Sidmouth Musical Theatre group from 24 October

Sidmouth Science Festival
If you enjoy all things scientific, then take a look at the Sidmouth science festival website for events between 8 and 17 October. At various locations in the Sidmouth area, there is a great choice of talks and things to do including geological games on 9 October at All Saints Church in Sidmouth, an interesting talk: Jurassic Coast – the greatest story on earth, again at All Saints Church. Plus many more fascinating events.

Sid Vale Association Guided Geology Walks
Look out for guided geology walks run by the Sid Vale Association in conjunction with Sidmouth Arboretum.
Both with knowledgeable guides, the walks are £2.50, payable at the museum. Geology walks on Wednesdays at 2pm; Tree walks at 2pm on Fridays. Both begin and finish at the museum.
