There are quite a few myths surrounding the origins of St Valentine and why we celebrate on 14 February. There’s the Roman St. Valentine who died about AD 270, there’s a priest from the fifteenth century who was beheaded for helping Christian couples to marry as well as quite a few other Valentines throughout the years. But, many believe it was Geoffrey Chaucer who ‘invented’ Valentine’s Day, writing about it in his fourteen century poem, ‘Parliament of Fowls’.
